Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in northern Tanzania. It’s best known for the Ngorongoro Crater, a collapsed volcano that is now the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. The crater, which is over 100 square miles in size, is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeest, and more.

Ngorongoro is also known for its stunning landscapes, with a mix of savannah, woodlands, and wetlands. The area is home to the Olduvai Gorge, an important archaeological site where the remains of early human ancestors have been found.

One of the most popular activities in Ngorongoro is game viewing. The crater’s size, shape, and the permanent water source at its center, attracts a large number of animals that can be spotted while on a game drive. It’s also possible to take walking safaris and cultural tours with the Maasai people who live around the crater.
