STAY WITH LOCAL FAMILY

Our difference from other companies has designed programs which connect you to another family far from your family Working direct to Community is one of our priority.

When we talk about family, there are various meanings that are given depending on the place. It is often a reference to people who live in the same place and share faith, blood, love, trust, etc. In the Tanzania environment, the family has become a very large place where siblings live together happily and solve their problems by working together day by day. Tanzanian families are among the large families where if you find a family of a few people, the number is 4-6 people. Large families have a larger number than that but due to other children being in boarding schools, this also reduces the number of family members to be large at the same time. People like the elderly are sometimes also taken care of in some families, which surprises many visitors from abroad to Tanzania.

Many families do their work manually and do not use machines for most of their daily lives. For example, washing clothes, washing dishes, farming and cooking. This means that you will have the opportunity to learn these things while in the Family. Our area located 17km from Kilimanjaro International Airport, 30km from Moshi town and 55km from Arusha.

WHY SHOULD I STAY WITH A TANZANIAN FAMILY?

Staying with a family gives you the opportunity to see the culture and daily life of Tanzanians without being told by anyone or watching television. Coming to be with a family will give you the opportunity to see all of this with your own eyes instead of being told.

The issue of the schedule of preparing and cooking food every day and getting food is part of the important things where there is a difference you will see in the family you will stay with during
your stay in Tanzania.

It helps you change the old perspective you had before staying with a family. The client will share household chores as a family member throughout the period of their stay with the family.

Local families will have an opportunities to venture into culture diversity by hosting you in their family.

You will have the opportunity to experience various activities in the division of labor in our Tanzanian families, unlike in Europe.

LIFE IN FAMILY

For internet access some family may not provide which require a client to get a local sim card by accompany by coordinator or family members , warm water not guarantee. Most families have Asia toilet design

Bathrooms are usually shared.

HOW TO GET TO OUR FAMILY?

After you have booked and confirmed your volunteering with us , we advise you to book a flight which land directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) which is 18minutes driving from our area in Bomang’ombe . We organise our pick up from Kilimanjaro international Airport with included friendly fees.

The best way to get to Kilimanjaro is to arrive into Kilimanjaro Airport, which is considerably larger than both neighbouring airports and receives direct international flights. Currently, there are no direct flights to Kilimanjaro from UK or US. it is easy to transit through hub cities in Europe and the nearby countries of Kenya, Ethiopia and Qatar.

The best and most reliable option is to fly direct to Kilimanjaro International Airport(JRO) from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) using KLM Airlines or Qatar Airways. KLM are very professional and reliable when it comes to any baggage or delay issues (plus Amsterdam is a super cool city!). It is worth nothing that the return flight with KLM to Amsterdam is an evening flight and includes a short stop in Dar es Salaam.

Ethiopian Airlines and Kenya Airways offer indirect flights to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)too. Major airport across Europe and United States, both airlines fly direct to Nairobi in Kenya or Addis Ababa in Ethiopia (airport code ADD), and then connect to Kilimanjaro International Airport(JRO), usually with another stop in between.

The downside here is the connecting times and the reliability of these airlines, which frequently report delays and lost/stolen baggage, can be a nightmare for trekkers on a schedule. There is a direct flight from Hamad International Airport in Doha (airport code DOH) to Kilimanjaro International Airport(JRO). This is not a bad idea for travellers from Asia, Middle East and Europe as the flight options from Doha are reasonably priced.

ORIENTATION IN HOSTING FAMILY

In the family you will join, there is a section where you will find explanations on how to behave with the family . Our hosting organiser will distribute volunteers to family directly. Generally, expectations and introduction to the local family and project site.
